Dr. Michael Jay Patney, D.O., FAOAO began his medical education with a B.A. in Biology at Temple University in Philadelphia in 1988, then went on to earn his doctorate in Osteopathy at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1993. He completed his internship at Delaware Valley Medical Center, and an Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at BiCounty Community Hospital / Henry Ford Health System. He has been board certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery (AOBOS) since September 2000, scoring first in the nation with his recertification in January 2011.

Dr. Patney began his medical career as an attending orthopaedic surgeon in a private practice in Hazleton, PA in 1998. In 2003, he relocated to Jacksonville where he served as Chief of the General Orthopaedic Division and Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Florida/Jacksonville Shands Jacksonville's Department of Orthopaedics. Two years later, he also became Chief of the hospital's Adult Reconstruction Division. He then served as Attending Physician at First Coast Orthopedics in Fleming Island before joining Coastal Orthopedic Associates in 2012.

Throughout his career, Dr. Patney has been appointed to multiple positions including Chief Surgical Resident for Horizon for Horizon Health Systems and Henry Ford Health Systems; Clinical Instructor at Michigan State University; and AOBOS Oral Board Examiner. He currently serves as AQSA Champion for the University of Florida/Jacksonville; Medical Director of the Orthopedics Inpatient Unit for Shands Jacksonville; and Medical Director of Orthopedics for the Northside Specialty Care Center.

Licensed to practice Osteopathy in Pennsylvania and Florida, Dr. Patney has staff privileges at Orange Park Medical Center, St. Vincent's Medical Center Southside and Memorial Hospital Jacksonville. He has landed many prestigious awards, scholarships and fellowships and is a member of the American Osteopathic Association; American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics; American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons; Florida Osteopathic Medical Association; American College of Osteopathic Surgeons; and Duval County Medical Society. A husband and father of two, Dr. Patney also is a sought-after presenter, lecturer, instructor and writer.
